HCC SW OPENS SPRING STUDENT ART EXHIBIT

HOUSTON-Houston Community College Southwest will open its Annual Juried Student Art Exhibit with a reception and award presentation Thursday, April 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

The reception will be held in the Greenbriar Annex Gallery located at 13645 Murphy Road, Suite 250, in Stafford. The opening is free to the public and the exhibit may be viewed by appointment through May 6th.

Dr. Sarah Trotty, art professor from Texas Southern University, is the juror of this year's exhibit. She is active in the Houston art community and serves on many advisory boards, including that of the Museum of Fine Arts.

Museum memberships, scholarships, and gift certificates from local vendors are a few examples of the awards to the winners.

Works of art completed by Southwest College students during the current semester include sculptures, photographs, paintings, ceramics, prints, drawings, digital art, and mixed media pieces.

Last year's People's Choice Award by Monica Mendez entitled Phrases will be included in the exhibit.

An evening of Chekhov short stories by the Southwest College Drama Department will open after the Art Exhibit at 8:00 PM in the Annex Theatre.
