Linda Cook, Southwest College sociology professor and Director of the Global Studies Program, has been awarded a Houston World Affairs Council travel fellowship to China beginning May 31.

She is one of ten educators from the Houston area chosen to attend. The group will meet with Chinese educators, politicians, and business leaders. The trip will take them to Beijing, Suzhou, and Shanghai. Ms. Cook's winning project proposal, China in Transition, will compare and contrast the current modernization in China with historical modernization in the West. Upon completion, it will be shared with Sociology and Global Studies faculty and students.
