HOUSTON HCCSW Art Department Presents Perspectives: The Faculty Art Exhibition

The HCC Southwest Fine Arts, Speech, and Digital Communication Department opens Perspectives: The Faculty Art Exhibition with a reception on Thursday, February 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The annual event will be held in the Annex Gallery located at 13645 Murphy Road, Suite 250, Stafford, Texas. The exhibition dates are February 24 through March 31. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

Paintings, drawings, photographs, digital art, sculpture, ceramics, prints, and a variety of mixed media works by professors in the Art and Digital Communication departments of Southwest College will be on display.
According to Cynthia Millis, assistant chair for Art, “Our faculty artists are known in the Houston area and many have national reputations. They are inspiration for our students and contribute their gifts as teachers to our learning community. We are honored by the mentorship they provide for the personal and technical growth of our young artists.”

Patricia Porcynaluk, associate chair for Digital Communication, highlights the collaboration of these two branches of the Fine Arts Department, “Since the beginning of time, artists have experimented with new technologies and that is evident in the breadth of artistic experiences represented by our faculty. We blend the strengths of both departments by sharing faculty between Art and Digital Communication. As students witness their professors merge traditional and new media, they become part of this exciting evolution.”

Following the opening reception, the Southwest College Drama Department will present Catholic School Girls starting at 8:00 p.m. in the Annex Theatre. Ticket prices are $7.00 for general admission and $5.00 for students, faculty, and staff.
