The mission of the Testing Department is to provide excellent service to the students of the Houston Community College System and the community at large through the coordination of testing programs and services.

Goals:
• Provide service to students in meeting their educational goals
• Provide a full range of testing services for course placement
• Provide testing services for the community at large
• Administer all testing programs with professional integrity and responsibility.

Tests administered by the Testing Department include the ASSET Alternative THEA, COMPASS Alternative THEA, CELSA, the THEA, GED and Correspondence (Distance Education- Examinations). The CLEP exam can be taken at the following HCC sites: Central, Northeast, and Northwest – Town and Country.

Paper pencil tests include the ASSET Alternative THEA, CELSA, GED, and Correspondence exams. These examinations are usually offered weekly basis at both of the SW test sites.
