All the Art that's Fit to Use . . .?

The HCC Southwest Art Department will present a workshop about Intellectual Property and Copyright Issues. Statement on Tuesday, March 4 from 11:00 AM-12:30 PM in the West Loop Auditorium at 5601 West Loop South . In today's digital and publishing climate, it is often difficult to know what can be legally used. What are the rules that govern "fair use"? Can we use anything that is on the internet and claim it as our own? Though geared for the visual arts and Digital Communication students, those in other artistic endeavors, like music, drama, or dance, may discover some pitfalls to avoid. Jennifer Stidham, our presenter, is a full-time librarian with Northeast College, is a trainer for the CIC in the area of Copyright and Fair Use. We welcome her contributions to this timely subject.

This workshop is part of Living the Arts: Exploring the Process of Life as an Artist, a series that gives participants an opportunity to experience the How Tos , the Whys , and the Whos of the artist's life. Please encourage your students or those who might be interested to take part. The event is free to all HCC students, faculty, staff, and the community . Living the Arts is co-sponsored by the Art Department and the College Activity Board of Southwest College. Light refreshments will be available.
