Child Care - WorkSource Program

Eligibility Requirements for Child Care Assistance through the Houston Community College System

The applicant must be participating in a training program at one of the designated Southwest College Campuses.

The applicant must have 30 hours of participation each semester. The applicant can use a combination of class hours and work hours to meet the 30 hour criteria.

Note: On-line classes do not count toward the 30 hours of participation.

If the applicant is married or living with the father/mother of the child/children the father or mother must be working or in school.

The gross monthly income must not exceed the income guidelines. (Income Guidelines)

All parents are assessed a fee unless they receive TANF or SSI. The fee is 11% of the gross monthly income for one child and 13% of the gross monthly income for two or more children.

The child care options available through this program are:

• licensed day care centers
• registered family homes
• group day homes
• self-arranged care

For applicants that meet the preliminary eligibility assessment, the following documents will be requested:

• copies of social security cards for all family members
• copy of two most recent check stubs for working family members
• training verification (class schedule and degree plan)
• Student copy of HCCS Transcript
• signed eligibility document from The WorkSource (Application for Eligibility certification for Services)
• Proof of monthly child support payment (Form 1825)
