Welcome. Finding a job, is a job in itself. Our goal is to assist HCC students and former students with that task. If you are new to our office, we have a few tools to make this path easier for you.
 

Before We Begin

Frequently Asked Questions

Orientation
If you have a résumé or a list of job skills, previous jobs or references prepared, you are ready for the first step. Contact us by email or phone during normal business hours. We will set up an appointment, meet with you, open a file (We call it the "pink folder") and begin organizing your job search with you.

Well On the Way
If you already have a "Pink Folder" in the Southwest College office, then you likely have learned how to navigate our Student Job Bank Listings. The job bank includes both full time and part time listings. Find opportunities that you are interested in and stop by our office to get the full details on the jobs you seek. At this point no appointment is needed. We will fax your résumé to up to 10 job prospects per week. Check in with us for special job recruiting events, Job Fairs and other opportunities and visit our Calendar Page for more ideas and help.
Do It Yourself Job Searching
Under development here is a project called Steps to Success. These pages present valuable help with every aspect of the job search from styling your résumé, planning your career search, writing effective cover letters, handling the interview, dressing for success, and following up after your meeting. Some very helpful links are provided here.

To help you keep on top of your job search, we have also included the Job Hunters Links Page. The Links page features local employer links,one or two articles of interest pertaining to job searching, skills building pages, and popular web sites for listing your résumé or searching beyond the HCCS Student Job Bank. HCCS cannot, however, be held responsible for job connections made over any third party job listing web sites or agencies.

We will help you in your job search from a part time position while you are in school, to the first step of your new career. Even HCCS students who have not attended in many years are welcome to use our services. We're out there looking for the best jobs for our students. Your success is our success.
