All courses offered by the Government Department at Houston Community College will transfer to four-year universities. The two basic Government courses, 2301 and 2302, are required for all bachelor's degrees issued by public universities in the state of Texas.
In general, since all bachelor's degrees issued by public universities in Texas require both Government 2301 and 2302, a student should complete both of these courses at Houston Community College. It is important to note that the courses are not sequential, which means that you do not have to take Government 2301 before you take Government 2302. Both courses may be taken in the same semester if the student wishes to do so.
All Government courses are 3 hour courses which means you will be in class 3 hours a week for 16 weeks during the regular Fall and Spring semesters. During the summer and mini-term sessions, you will be in class longer since there are fewer weeks.
This depends on the degree in question, but generally both courses, Government 2301 and 2302 are required for the degree.
Yes. The Government discipline has established that at least 25% of the course grade must consist of written assignments, including papers. Each professor has discretion to specify the type of written assignments that they wish to require, and some may require that more than 25% be in written form.
The Government Department is located at 10141 Cash Road in the Scarcella Science and Technology Building at the Stafford Campus. The office number is E121A and is at the east end of the rear of the building. The Department Chair is Dr. John Speer.
