HCC has worked in partnership with the Houston Apartment Association to develop a unique program designed to prepare individuals for careers in mulit-family property management.   The course is ideal for:

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS 

Real Estate Property Management

The student will learn about the role of the property manager, landlord policies, operational guidelines, leases, lease negotiations, tenant relations, maintenance, reports, habitability laws, and the Fair Housing Act.

Landlord/Tenant Law

A study of the role of the property manager, landlord policies, operational guidelines, leases, lease negotiations, tenant relations, maintenance, reports, habitability laws with an emphasis on multi-family units, as well as industry specific software and interpersonal skills

Property Management Software

The student will learn how to use computer software packages specific to the real estate industry.

Real Estate Leadership

Students will learn the leadership basics that may include conflict resolution and customer service, techniques to negotiate conflict and control anger, how personality types affect conflict and to identify the underlining causes of conflict.  They will also learn techniques for dealing effectively with customers and study different customer types.

Internship

Perform duties of a property management professional as outlined in the learning plan, Apply the theory, concepts, and skills involving specialized materials, tools, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social, and legal systems associated with the occupation and the business/industry.  Students will demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and appropriate written and verbal communication skills using the terminology of the occupation and the business/industry.
