"PeopleSoft on Campus" IntroductionThis course provides skill development in the performance of navigating an Enterprise Resource Software Program and explains the theory behind its operation. PeopleSoft Applications Software will be used to illustrate how an Enterprise Software Program can have far-reaching effect on an organization. A hands-on overview of navigating this type of software package, panels, the interface, understanding how data is stored, processes, and basic queries will be covered. Instruction also includes a demonstration of how various transactions can have an impact on an organization from Human Resources, to Accounting and Financials, to Inventory Control. Emphasis will be placed on gaining practical hands-on knowledge, with an Enterprise Software Program, through the application of theory in a classroom/lab setting. Introduction to Computers and WindowsA study of microprocessor architecture, file creation/deletion, data entry and manipulation, automatic file execution, configuration, and directory commands. In this class you will learn to define computers, identify hardware components, discuss disk drives and floppy disks, and explore software. You will navigate through Windows, use Windows Explorer, work with folders, files, and learn how to purchase a computer system. You will learn to create, save, print, and edit documents, move and copy text, format paragraphs, find and replace text, and use proofing tools to correct spelling and grammar errors. Microsoft OfficeInstruction in program parameters, data dictionary, optional field characteristics, calculation, constant default values, designing of data entry forms, database organization, and report generation. Using Access, students learn how to create and modify tables, create queries, use filters, create and modify forms, create and modify reports and enhance reports. Textbook required. Intermediate Access Instruction in data validation, data manipulation, browsing through records, records selections and query, indexing, and sorting. A continuation of Introduction to Access, students learn how to create relational databases, work with related tables, use sub-forms, maintain data integrity, use advanced form features, use advance report features, use advanced query features, and work with charts. Textbook required. Instruction in terminology, machine use, program parameters, display characteristics, formatting features, mathematical functions, and format worksheets, work with basic formulas and functions, use multiple worksheets, enhance worksheets, use styles and AutoFormats, and work with charts. This course also provides skills necessary to help prepare for the MOUS certification test. Textbook required. Intermediate Excel Instruction in moving and copying cell contents; sorting mathematical, statistical, and financial functions; date and time arithmetic; report generations; and built-in graphics support. Students will review the material presented in Introduction to Excel, use names, work with advanced functions, work with advanced formatting features, change and update data, use special format and print options, protect worksheet data, manipulate the screen display, share worksheet data, use automation and share workbooks. This course also provides skills necessary to help prepare for the MOUS certification test. Textbook required. In this course students will create, edit, format, and print PowerPoint presentations. Students will work with proofing tools, and objects, use WordArt and ClipArt, and build and play with slide shows. This course also provides skills necessary to help you prepare for the MOUS certification test. Textbook required. Instruction in terminology, computer operation, editing functions, formatting, and special text options. This course presents basic topics of the Word 2000 processing application. You will create, save, print, and edit documents, move and copy text, and use automatic text features. You will also enhance the appearance of documents by formatting text, paragraphs and documents, finding and replacing text, and using proofing tools to correct spelling and grammar errors. This course also provides skills necessary to help you prepare for the MOUS certification test. Textbook required. Introduction to the computer keyboard. In this course students will learn principles of keyboarding and ergonomics, and the history of typing. This class will enhance keyboarding skills to show measurable results. Outside classroom practice will be required. Textbook required. Hands-on application using packaged software to prepare business applications; general ledger, payroll, inventory, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Instruction in office automation, word-processing and scheduling, graphics and databases. This course will introduce you to the general features of QuickBooks Pro including using forms, lists, registers and navigator. Students will set up a company on a general ledger, as well as accounts on the receivables and payables subsidiary ledgers. Students will also enter products into inventory and practice invoicing customers and paying vendors. The income statement, balance sheet, cash flow and general ledger reports are covered. Because QuickBooks Pro has many options, students are encouraged to bring their own business materials and the instructor will help each student with their unique business and account problems as they relate to QuickBooks Pro.
