Spanish for Business Professional

This is an intensive program that provides U.S. business professionals with practical Spanish language instruction and cross-cultural training that addresses barriers between U.S. businesspersons and their Latin American counterparts.  No prior knowledge of Spanish necessary.  Curriculum includes:

Learning survival Spanish - Utilizing phonetic encoding, participants learn functional Spanish skills to survive in a Latin American setting.

Cross-cultural training - Identify and overcome the fifty most common cultural barriers encountered by U.S. business personnel when dealing with Latin Americans.

This program is intended for:

International executives

Sales representatives

Import/export representatives

Marketing personnel

Office personnel

Financial/accounting staff

Corporate lawyers

Upon completion, participants will be able to use Spanish to: 

Receive and welcome people

Compliment people, things, food, and drink

Make simple purchases

Order food and drink

Request a room and services at a hotel

Pronounce people’s names correctly. 

Identify and cope with the fifty most common cross-cultural barriers associated with doing business with Latin Americans.

Methods of Instruction include lecture, activities, modeling, intensive drill, choral response, alpha-beta line, learning pairs and triads, Total Physical Response, role-playing, simulations, and situation cards.  Also, participant’s manual contains numerous “fill-in” cultural blocks that are for use in conjunction with instructor’s presentation.
