Jason Grant Scholarship

The Jason Grant Scholarship honors the memory of a young Southwest College art student who lost his life in a traffic accident. The scholarship is sponsored by Southwest Fine Arts Student Association (SWFASA). SWFASA members raise money for the Jason Grant Scholarship through art sales and other art activities. At the present time the scholarships are at least $100 to assist the purchases of required course materials.

 

To be considered for the scholarship, you must:

 

1.         Be currently enrolled student at Southwest College in the Houston Community College System.

2.         Have a 2.5 GPA or above. (Transcript will be required if you are chosen as a finalist by SWFASA committee).

3.         Be currently enrolled in a Southwest College fine arts course.

4.         Have completed or are enrolled in at least two fine arts courses. (Art, Music, Speech, Drama).

 

Application Checklist:

 

·        complete signed application.

·        summit a fine arts portfolio. (slides, photos, tapes, CD, or DVD).

·        2 recommendation letters (one must be from a Southwest Fine Arts instructor, and one from an adult including teachers, employers, advisors, or friends.\

·        A personal statement about your goals in the fine arts, and why you are a deserving candidate for the scholarship.

 

Complete the application and mail or deliver it to Southwest Fine Arts Association, HCC Southwest College, Building F, 9910 Cash Road, Stafford, TX 77477.

 

The scholarship will be awarded at the opening of the Student Art Show on Friday, April 18, 2008.
