William Ferreira is a member of the Texas Speech Communication Association, the Texas Comunity College Speech and Theater Association, and Phi Rho Pi.
Mr. Ferreira earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida in Speech/ Broadcasting/ Library- Audiovisual- Education and his Master of Arts from the University of Houston - Clear Lake in Higher Education/ Studies of the Future.
Prior to coming to HCCS, Mr. Ferreira spent more than twenty-two years in television - five of those in NASA Television. From 1981 through 1984, he provided video coverage of the Space Shuttle landings in California and New Mexico. He also performed entensive film and video analysis of the Space Shuttle Challenger accident in 1986, and lectures extensively on the accident.
An instructor at the Houston Community College since 1989, Mr. Ferreira has taught Communications, Speech, Technical Communications and Broadcast Technology courses. A member of the Charter Faculty of Southeast College, Mr. Ferreira transferred to Southwest College in 1998 to help develop the Broadcast Technology Department. He currently teaches Public Speaking (SPCH1311 & SPCH1315), Interpersonal Communications (SPCH 1318), and Business and Professional Speaking (SPCH1321) courses.
