Private Lessons Information:
- HCC Southwest currently offers lessons in voice, piano, guitar, flute, clarinet, percussion, violin, and saxophone.
- Our private lessons are listed as MUAP courses.
- HCC Southwest can accomodate any level of student- from the beginner who has never tried music to the advanced student!
- Department approval is needed for all private lessons
Commonly Asked Questions:
- What is the MUSI Requirement? HCC requires that any student taking private lessons (MUAP) also be enrolled in an MUSI course. The MUSI courses are designed to help the private lessons students further their knowledge of music outside of their specific instrumental or voice lessons. You may sign up for Any MUSI course.
- Why do I need departmental approval and where do I get it? Students can obtain departmental approval in the fine arts office of the Greenbriar Annex. Ask for either Andrea Jaber or John Corley. Having departmental approval assures our office and the student that they are placed in the correct private lesson for their specific abilities - it also allows us to place the student with specific instructors that they may request. You MUST have departmental approval for EVERY semester you are enrolled in a MUAP course.
