|
John Corley is the Fine Arts and Speech Division Chair for the Southwest College. He completed his Masters degree at the University of Houston. Upon completion of his degree, Mr. Corley came to Houston Community College's Central Campus in 1984. He produced many plays and musicals there before coming to the Southwest College in 1992. In 1992 the Texas Educational Theater Association recognized him as Educator of the Year.
Since 1997 he has been the Chair of the Fine Arts and Speech Department. He continues to mount productions in the Annex Theatre at the Stafford Campus. His plays have won many awards at the annual Texas Community College Speech and Theater Association Play Festival. In 1993, he received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence, and in 1997 the Bedichek Distinguished Service Award. In 2005 John received the Faculty Mentor Award for the Western Region and was one of four finalists for the National Faculty Mentor Award given by the Association of Community College Trustees. Mr. Corley currently serves on the Advisory Board for Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company and is a Resident Artist for the Unity Theatre in Brenham, Texas. |
