ETWR 1371 Technical Composition

3 (2 lecture, 4 lab)

Course Description: A study of the selection, organization, relevancy and logical sequencing of technological ideas and information. Includes a review of basic English grammar.

Learning Outcomes: Write effective memos, business letters, instructions and executive summaries. Research a technical topic and wrtie a report (electronic submission) and present the report orally in a professional manner. Include graphic presentation of data in a technical report. Use teamwork skills to peer review assignments and critique presentations. Demonstrate proficiency in correct use of English grammar and speech. Prepare a researched report in MLA style to be submitted both electronically and printed. Give an oral presentation of the report to share ideas. Demonstrate proficiency in correct English spelling and punctuation. Demonstate an understanding of differences in format and style between traditional essays and technical documents. Communicate effectively with audiences at all levels.
