Q:
Can I take Anatomy and Physiology I without taking General Biology
first?
A: Although General Biology I is a prerequisite for Anatomy
and Physiology I, it was mistakenly not listed as such in the
official HCC system catalog. It is highly recommended that students
complete General Biology I prior to attempting to take Anatomy
and Physiology I.
Q: Can I take the lecture and lab
portions of Biology separately, one per semester?
A: Our Biology courses (except Biology 1308) consist of a
three hour lecture session and a three hour lab session per
week. It is not possible to take just one component per semester.
Q: Who can I ask for if I need
advice?
A: Just call our department office (713-718-7771), and you
will be directed to a faculty member that can help you. Each
faculty member has several hours set aside each week to meet
with students and provide counseling.
Q: Will my course credits transfer
to all colleges and programs?
A: Most colleges will accept the course credits that are earned
at HCC; however, we recommend that you check with program
directors and counselors at the institutions that you might
be transferring to.
Q: Is it a good idea to take several
Biology courses simultaneously?
A: Generally, that is not a good idea. Most Biology courses
are very detailed and require lots of study time, taking more
than one may become overwhelming.
